Government and non-govermental organisations in Nigeria receive huge amounts of money in aidsand grants every year. But citizens hardly know how these funds are spent. Possibly because of poor accountability, progress reports on projects for which aids and grants were received are rarely made accessible.
But the resources on this page will connect you with who is getting what, for what purposes and what claims they are making to donors.
1) GLOBAL FUNDS: The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria was created to dramatically increase resources to fight three of the world’s most devastating diseases, and to direct those resources to areas of greatest need.
On this page of the Global Funds’ website, you will find links to how much grants the Funds is disbursing to government and non-governmental organisations in your country. You will also find the project reports. You can decide to investigate the claims made by grantees in their project reports.
This page, for instance, leads you to information about grants in progress in Nigeria and links to all grants. On the left hand side, you will find a link that leads to a download of all grants. You will also find pages like this which links you to details about individual projects.
Try to explore the whole websites. It gives you a lot of insight into how grantees in your country are doing.

2) DFID: This is UK Government Department responsible for promoting development and the reduction of poverty. Every year, it provides funding for government agencies and non-governmental organisations for governance, development and poverty reduction projects.
You can find links to all ongoing projects here. Click on any of the projects in the table for a link like this to all documents and reports about the projects. You will be shocked about DFID’s impression of the ongoing projects in your country. If documents for a project is not posted, you can request them from DFID.
Believe me, there are lots of stories there such as this.

3) U.S OFFICIAL DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE DATABASE
This website provides U.S. Official Development Assistance (ODA) data as defined by the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD), Development Assistance Committee (DAC). These data are compiled annually by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) for the U.S. Government and submitted to the OECD/DAC.
Click on this link after then explore the page, looking up aids disbursed by recipient country, sector, agency.

4) FOREIGN ASSISTANCE.GOV
This platform lets you into how much of aid money the U.S. is giving to your country and through which development agency. It tells where aids money go by country, by sector, by initiative, by agency and by overseas contingency operations.
For instance, this page gives you a snapshot of how much Nigeria has received in aids money and in what sector, how much is being spent and how much has been requested for the current year.

5) AIDSFLOW
AidFlows visualizes how much development aid is provided and received around the world. It is the result of a partnership between the OECD, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. They came together to raise the transparency of aid, making global data on development assistance more easily accessible. Users can select individual donors (providing the aid) and beneficiaries (receiving the aid) to track the sources and uses of aid funding.
To use the site, select a donor or a beneficiary, either from the left navigation or by clicking on the world map. Some countries are listed both as donor and beneficiary. Data sources include the OECD’s Development Assistance Committee, showing global development aid, plus the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, reporting on their respective development financing activities.
